- Do NOT crimp CS Ferrules onto housing.
- CS Ferrules are designed for 5mm housings only.*
- Use new housings and cables.
- Cut housings so that ends are straight and free of any burrs.
- Do NOT use any type of lube other than a heavyweight motor oil.
- Apply a drop of heavyweight motor oil into each CS Ferrule before assembly.
- Apply a 4-5 drops of a heavyweight motor oil into housings before assembly.
- Do NOT use a coated cable of any type.
Smooth die-drawn uncoated cables are the only type of cable recommended.
SPECIAL NOTE: Regular cleaning and lubrication of derailleur pivot points will remedy many shift problems.
Cable stretch : Cables do not stretch! At least not by the amount of force that the cable undergoes during braking or shifting. The slack often thought of as stretch is only the ferrules, housings and cables seating into their respective positions. A large portion of this seating can be done by gently pulling on the cable (not possible in systems with full-length housing runs) after assembly.
Thank you for purchasing CS Ferrules and please feel free to call with any questions you may have.
*Shims are available free of charge upon request in order to use 4mm shift housing. **Please note that in some rare instances where Brake CS Ferrules will not fit into a barrel adjuster a quick reaming with a ¼” drill bit at high speed will remedy the situation. |
